  Avoid these rip off merchants. Spent an hour with them going through my return, on which I had already done most of the preparation. Near the end they clarified what the fee would be and it absolutely blew my mind. About $1200. Other accountants I've used for similarly complex returns are typically $400.
  
  I refused to go ahead but they insisted I still pay for the hour. They wanted me to pay for them wasting my time.
  
  They did not make their ridiculous fee schedule clear to me before we started.

  Called to get a quote and they say it's minimum of $170 which is extremely expensive by itself. Then they say depending on what's involved (rental property, etc.) it will go up. I've always done my tax returns through tax agents and always they quoted a fixed price. There's something fishy about the way this business charges people.
  
  Reply: When your minimum price is $170, your fix price would be well above $200 mark which is way too expensive compared to any other accounting service I have ever worked with in Australia. No thanks

  GC accountants didn’t tell me the price until I received the invoice, despite asking for the price prior to the tax refund. When I asked to cancel my request for a refund to go somewhere else they refused and said “ you’re just going need to come in and pay it “ despite asking for a rationale why I was charged so much, no empathy was given. i Was treated like a second class citizen when I told them I was a student and can’t afford the inflated price. All I wanted was to retract my refund through these guys, however they refused to empathise. I warn people NOT to do a refund through these guys unless you ask for a definite quote beforehand. Additionally I asked if I could get the bill taken out of the refund, however they refused.
